Have you tried and failed to stop on your own, or with conventional counseling, or 12-step support? At least 90% of addicts do. The problem with these methods is not that they aren't good-it's that they aren't complete.
What's missing is what we offer at our clinic: REPAIR FOR THE PHYSICAL IMBALANCES THAT ARE THE PRIMARY CAUSES OF ADDICTION.
The TOP TWO PHYSICAL CAUSES of Addiction:
Inherited and Stress-Triggered Mood Chemistry Deficits
Inherited Blood-Sugar Dysregulation Made Worse By the Standard American Diet
Our Outpatient Clinic's Expertise in Addiction Recovery
The Clinic's founder, Julia Ross, MA, MFT, helped pioneer addiction treatment in California in the 1970s. As the founder and director of several addiction treatment programs for adults and adolescents in the San Francisco Bay Area starting in 1980, she witnessed the increasing failure rate of the treatment model that she herself had helped to design. By 1986 she had developed a new, nutritional treatment component to add to the counseling and 12-step model. It made all the difference! Since 1988, when she founded the Recovery Systems Clinic, Julia Ross and her staff have been continually refining this successful treatment process.

The Addiction Cure-A Holistic Program
Because addiction is such a difficult trap to escape, we combine our nutritional therapy tools with every other support possible.
We will want to meet with you alone and then, typically, with you and your closest family members or friends to plan our strategy.
Those close to you often need special support themselves, which we can provide.
In severe cases we work together with inpatient programs in our area.
In less challenging cases, we make outpatient counseling, 12-step meetings or other support part of our outpatient recommendations.
We'll discuss all this with you in the PHONE INTAKE SESSION that we'll have before you come into the clinic, so that we can get off to the strongest possible start.
Then, in our FIRST IN-PERSON SESSION, we will look for and find what has led up to your addiction:
Was it genetics? Who else in your family has suffered from addiction or mood problems?
What kind of life-stressors or health issues have also contributed?
Exactly what effects have alcohol or drug(s) had on you?
What role has your diet played?
Your Recovery Plan
Once we've collected this initial information from forms and interviews, we'll carefully tailor a nutrient recovery program to your specific needs and monitor you closely for as long as it takes. If you need lab tests and Medical Care, we will incorporate that into your program as well.
Biochemical Imbalances That You May Need Help With, In Addition To Brain Neurotransmitter And Blood Sugar Dysfunction:
Low Thyroid Function
Stress (Adrenal) Burnout
Unbalanced Sex Hormones
Digestive Problems
Chemical Toxicity
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT? You should feel significant benefits within the first few days!
Depending on Which Drugs You've Been Using, the Course of Your Recovery Will Vary:
Stimulants? Addiction to meth, cocaine, diet drugs, or caffeine is typically easy to treat. Your cravings will drop off and your energy will pick up right away (unless you have a thyroid problem, which will take a few weeks to sort out.)
Pot? Cravings should stop very quickly, but pot is a complex drug that takes months to clear from your brain and body. We'll help speed that detox process as we clear all the brain sites that this multi-fanged drug has impacted.
Opiates(Vicodin, oxycodone, heroin, etc.)? We may recommend IV nutrients to ease the worst of the initial detox, but after that, oral supplementation and diet, sometimes along with ear acupuncture, keep the cravings at bay.
Alcohol? We'll typically be able to stop your cravings immediately, using the brain-targeted amino acids that your symptoms indicate a need for. Medical backup to prevent seizures will be provided for the first two weeks, if needed
Benzodiazapines (Xanax, Ativan, etc.)? We'll typically need to taper you down with Valium and IV nutrient support initially, then do the easier taper off Valium. But you should start sleeping better and feeling more relaxed right away.
SSRIs? It is typically an easy process to taper our clients off Zoloft, Lexapro, etc., in comfort. For more details see THE MOOD CURE PROGRAM.
A Mood-Enhancing Diet
When the brain is producing neurotransmitters at optimal levels, it generates normal, healthy appetites as well as normal, healthy moods. When we increase neurotransmitter production with nutrient supplements, not only does mood improve, but cravings for caffeine, carbohydrates, chocolate, junk foods, and any other addictive foods are eliminated as well. This makes it possible for our clients of all ages to easily make mood-supportive dietary changes. It also means that the health and wellbeing that result become easy to maintain for life, and that the therapeutic nutrient supplements can be eliminated after a few months.
My daughter got addicted to meth at 18. We took her to two inpatient places. No luck. Finally we got her court-ordered to a half-way house and took her to the Recovery Systems Clinic. The aminos made her more mentally alert and happier, but she was still exhausted- even months after she’d gotten clean! She could barely work part time, so the clinic arranged for us to get her thyroid checked out – they promised that would take care of the energy problem. And it did! She had Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis and as soon as the doctor got her medication dose right, she was up and running like her old self – without needing speed to do it. Now she is in South America volunteering at an orphanage!

Pot was my drug. I loved it for fifteen years. It made everything so pleasant and it got me to sleep. I was really edgy and irritable off it and anxious and sleepless.
My wife finally said that the kids were getting too old to not know and that she’d have to ask me to leave if I couldn’t stop (she knew I’d tried to several times). We decide to go to the holistic recovery clinic we’d heard about in the next county. It’s a good thing we did. They were able to turn off the pot cravings right away by making me feel really relaxed and mellow without it. I bought a case of 5-HTP online! They gave me a another pleasure boosting amino that really helped too. I still have some bottles left, but I don’t need them much anymore – a year later.
